You know You Have a Bad Mechanic When–
Bad mechanics can be a headache and are found everywhere and we as customers easily get fooled and our cars ultimately suffer. So, it is imperative that we have some sort of idea about cars and its functionality. But, the more important thing is that we as customers should look for signs and know whether or not we are dealing with an inexperienced mechanic.
One of the few things you need to see is whether the mechanic is confident in his or her abilities. This is one of the first signs; a bad mechanic would normally be unsure about the problem or the diagnosis of it. The diagnostic stage is where you can easily find out whether your mechanic is fluke or not.
Another fact that you must be aware of is the dishonest attitude. A dishonest attitude can be easily checked when your mechanic would straight away recommend a parts problem, and would want you to change it as soon as possible without repairing. You can get rid of this problem by getting any other opinion. This would tell you whether your mechanic is telling you the truth or not.
Other things that you must be aware of are the fees that you will be asked to pay. A mechanic is not a real mechanic when he asks for upfront payments. You must make payments to the mechanic after the job is done, espeically because most car and caravan insurance companies will not pay out unless they have a receipt of the work. As far as the parts are concerned, you can buy them yourself.
A bad mechanic would also tell you to leave the car overnight when it is not necessary; you must never do this, as this can lead to stealing of the parts.
You must see whether your mechanic has the skills to perform the job or not. A good mechanic would tell you pretty early about the problem with your car, whereas a fluke one would run around the problem and would delay any diagnosis.
