As I searched around for english teaching jobs I came upon an news item about the BMW Hydrogen 7 and was impressed with what I saw. So here I share what I read.

The BMW Hydrogen 7 is a car model that uses hydrogen as fuel. Aside from being powered by hydrogen, the new innovation can also be powered by the use of gasoline. It can seamlessly switch between gasoline and hydrogen. The internal combustion engine has 12 cylinders and pumps 6 litres.

This is the first hydrogen luxury vehicle that is for day to day use.

The car will inject hydrogen directly to its air intake when it is in the hydrogen mode, so, the manifold will be combusted in the cylinder of the car’s engine instead of the conversion of hydrogen’s energy to electricity that is meant for operating electric motors in the case of fuel cell. The cars that are being powered by hydrogen have increased efficiency.

An interesting thing about the use of hydrogen to power BMW cars is that, when the hydrogen has been exhausted by the car, the powering source can be switched seamlessly from hydrogen to gasoline by simply touching a particular button on the surface of the steering wheel. Aside from touching a particular button on the steering wheel to switch the power source, the engine could sense that the hydrogen has been exhausted and would automatically switch make a change over to gasoline immediately.

The tank where the hydrogen is stored is highly insulated and bi-layered. The hydrogen has a capacity for 110 liters.
