Depending on where you live in the world and what car you wish to drive, the options on where to buy from can range dramatically. Now if you are not really interested in a car other than to get you from A to B, this may not be much of an issue for you, but if you are fanatical about specialist cars, it might interest you to learn about the prospect of getting some rare and vintage cars for less money than you see in your own country.

Due to the nature of the motor business, foreign car manufacturers will only manufacture and sell cars in a country if they think that there is a market for it. This means that many of the rare, specialist models will never be exported outside of the country of manufacture due to it not being viable for the manufacturing company. However, if you look in the right places, and speak to the right dealers, it is possible to arrange specialist imports from America and Asia. Now it is not quite as simple as organizing a parcel delivery, but it is not as difficult as you may think. There are some classic car import companies, who take orders from people, and then arrange shipping costs in on bulk orders when they have enough.

This means that it is possible to buy in those rare Japanese super cars that you have always dreamed of, but never thought would get your hands on. Now this may not be the cheapest of ways to get hold of a vehicle, but then again, we are not talking about any old vehicle here but a lifetime dream car. It is always a good idea to conduct a lot of research before parting with any money on such a venture, as with all things in this world, there is a certain amount of risk, and you need to ensure that you are dealing with a reputable company.

I am a huge petrol head, okay. I love everything that has wheels and I spend many hours researching the automotive industry. I read about the classic models, but also about the latest creations of petrol heads like me. Recently something really special caught my eye, one of a kind Nissan Juke, which, believe it or not, has the same mechanical parts as the Japanese Godzilla, the GT-R, hence the name – Nissan Juke-R.

Let’s start with this, the small SUV accelerates from 0 to 60mph for less than 3.7 seconds and can reach a maximum top speed of 157mph, interested? The European division of Nissan is responsible for this monster. They took a pretty standard Juke, quite funky looking SUV - one of the different cars on the road, and put most of the guts of a pretty standard GT-R in it. And now the final version of the Juke-R is finally ready. Everything in the car is modified; even the paint is matte-black. The interior holds two racing seats, a big LCD screen, racing steering wheel and lots of switches, including the gear nob from the GT-R and lots of tubs, also called roll-bars. The suspension and everything you don’t see is also heavily modified, racing brakes, adjustable suspension, as a matter of fact only a fraction of the car is standard. The exterior is also very, very different. It actually looks amazing, huge wheels, spoilers everywhere, if you saw it on the road you would totally freak out, that’s for sure. The engine is the familiar 3.8 litre twin-turbo from the GT-R, delivering 485bhp and 588Nm of torque. There is only one problem, only two Nissan Juke-R will be produced, a left-hand drive and a right-hand drive, and that is it. However, we are all secretly hoping that it will eventually go into production; just imagine this car as a taxi or airport transfer for the rich travellers, from central London to Stansted for less than 15 minutes. Super-fast Stansted transfers, adrenalin rising ride and a boot to hold two suitcases. Of course two additional seats need to be installed, but that seems as an easy task.

During University and my younger twenty something years I had what can only be described as the best car I have ever had the pleasure of owning, a Ford Puma! Hailed on hit BBC show Top Gear as the “Cheeky, Feisty and Fashionable” 1997 car of the year, this car is a real dream to both drive and own. With its sleek line body and compact features, this car is a looker as well as a performer and the perfect balance between fun enthusiastic driving experience and sensible car owner fundamentals

Departmentalised as a ‘small sports coupe'the Ford Puma manufactured by the Ford Motor Company, was exclusively built at Ford’s Niehl plant in Cologne in Germany between 1997 and 2001.

The three door hatchback came as standard or in a few variant models, all models were front wheel drive, three door coupes with four seats and alloys came as given. Ford puma produced a Millennium model (1999-2000) of which only 1000 were made and the ‘Ford Racing Puma'(1999 - 2001) of which only 500 were made. Additionally Puma created the ‘Thunder'(2000-2001) and the ‘Black'(2000-2001).

The Ford Puma advertising campaign was particularly memorable in that it starred the American movie actor dubbed ‘King of Cool'Steve McQueen and the car has continued to receive mainly positive reviews from car enthusiasts and review websites to this day.

The puma packs so much punch for a small sports coupe at such a reasonable price, the suspension is tuned down in order to give the perfect compromise between exciting driving experience and comfort and the handling is always spot on. It is not the most environmentally friendly car, largely due to its age, and it isn’t the cheapest to run, especially if you have the larger engine models, however the pros massively outweigh the cons and if you are looking for a small and reasonably priced second hand car which packs a punch and isn’t as boring as a chess set, the ford Puma is definitely for you!

For all the hoopla surrounding the cuts and reductions in public spending I find it incredible that I still see some of the most expensive cars being driven around by people I would never expect to have such vehicles. I was admiring a new Astin Martin DBS the other week before I realised it was being driven by a doctor. Now I know doctors do get paid a fair amount of money, but with the NHS undergoing a consultation to have its services transferred to the private sector I find it difficult to understand how a doctor can afford a car like this. So admiring was I about the car, and so curious to find out more about it, I followed the doctor to the hospital he worked at.

Stalking someone is not something I do on a regular basis but when a really nice car takes my eye it does become something that I have to bow down to on occasion. I think the doctor thought I was sick at first when I approached him in the car park, but after I’d spent several minutes convincing him that I wasn’t either sick or a nutter he was quite willing to talk about the Astin with me. It turns out he got it as a present in matter of fact from his father in law who had passed away recently. I expressed my condolences and then we got talking about the car itself.

For those who didn’t watch Casino Royale back when James Bond burst back onto the big screen in 2006, the Astin Martin DBS is the car of the film and gets a little screen time before being written off spectacularly toward the end. A beautiful car, it has a slightly darker shade of grey then the older David Brown models, but still retains the same tone. As a sports car it has a lower clearance level then most road cars but you can still sit in it comfortably without feeling like you’re about to be squashed into oblivion. The doctor that I was speaking to was a genuinely lovely chap and he was clearly delighted with the car, especially as he told me that there wasn’t a way in hell he could afford something like it on his salary – apparently more money is going to care home jobs then to doctors in some cases. As well as learning more about the DBS I learnt a lot more about the state of the NHS and the people who are working within it.

Whilst there are many jobs being advertised in the medical profession, not everyone is aware of how desperately the NHS needs some positions to be filled. The care industry is calling for applicants but despite care jobs being advertised, the doctor told me that not enough people are applying. This may be due to the fear that pervades the NHS now that the new policies of budget changes and reductions are being put into effect. It is scaring people off despite the jobs being available.

Eventually I had to leave as I was going to be late for work. The doctor I spoke to was one of many wondering what is going to happen to the NHS in the months to come. Being a car enthusiast, I had never paid it that much attention before, but considering the amount of traffic accidents that happen every year I can see it is essential that the organisation survives. I might also start driving more slowly!

Reliable broadband in cars is something that is being taken far more seriously. One of my favourite cars the Ford Focus is due to have its own wireless broadband hotspot installed from 2012. This means that from early next year the Focus will join the ranks of Audi and a few others in ensuring their customers have access to the internet wherever they are. Smaller providers like abroadband who specialise in roaming services are watching with interest to see how successful this in car facility is and more importantly, how much it will cost.

The latest Ofcom ruling as reported by the BBC is going to force BT (often the only operator in many small exchanges) to lower its prices. This is good news for Ford and other service providers and possibly a contributing factor to Ford and other car companies offering their drivers broadband on the move. But what of the new Focus itself?

As well as the broadband offer, the interior of the vehicle boasts the same reliable features as well as some nice upgrades. New electronic power assisted steering Ford says will make your drive even more comfortable. Add to this the Torque Vectoring Control and it sounds like you’ll be driving the latest technological marvel from the army rather then an everyday road vehicle. Sport tuned suspension, variable cam timing and a new six speed ‘power shift’ automatic transmission make the new Focus an interesting proposition for next year. So how does it actually handle?

The 2.0 litre direct injected four cylinder engine puts out a respectable 160 hp at 6,500rpm. Not bad for a sedan. The power shifting does what it says on the tin; both smooth and feeling at the same time you forget that you’re not driving a traditional automatic. The only issue I have is with the new power assisted steering. It felt a little numb and made me feel nervous as I never thought I was always in control of the car. That said the chassis is rigid without feeling too heavy so I can forgive the questionable quality of the power steering. Boasting 37 miles to the gallon on motorways the car actually averages out at 31 miles to the gallon in mixed road conditions. However as the tank only holds 12.4 gallons compared to most of the Focus’ rivals (which usually go up to 15 gallons), you will be filling up more often then you would ordinarily want to.

Overall though the new Focus is a solid and decent car. It is probably due to retail in-between £15 - £20k in the UK it also comes in at a mid range price for the type of car it is. As always it remains the middle child of younger sportier cars (like the Mazda3) and older classier vehicles (like the Cruze), but the Focus has never tried to be anything more then a reliable road vehicle. In this, the 2012 model has succeeded and Ford can once again be proud of the car that could.

The summer season has come at last. It is time to have some fun, to go on a holiday or just enjoy the beautiful weather. And during these hot summer days I cannot help it but wonder: Is it worth investing in a convertible? Well it depends really, and in my humble opinion, owning a convertible is always an advantage, something that sets you apart, something that makes you different. It is true though, that this type of car costs considerably more and that you have to compromise on safety, fuel consumption and handling, but you gain so much, that I think that the trade-off is well worth it. And what you gain? Well, you can enjoy the freedom of driving with the roof down. There is no other feeling that comes even close to this one. Just picture it, picture it right now. It is a beautiful sunny day, you are driving your convertible with the top down, whilst listening to your favorite tune and just enjoying the moment. The wind in your hair, the noise that comes out of the powerful engine, of course that is only if you have stayed clear of those hybrid cars, which promise a lot, but have a long way to go. Anyway, the only advantage that a couple has over a convertible is that it is cheaper, it weights less and has a slightly better handling. When it comes to brands, I would recommend the new e-classe coupe or if you are on a budget the new VW golf convertible.

With all this technological advancement it is pretty hard to know what exactly is under our bonnets. The truth is that sometimes, even I get confused. And it’s like the car companies are trying to confuse us even more by coming up with all kinds of different ways to indicate their models like bluetech, blue efficiency and so on. Even the name hybrid can mean a million things. So if you are not really sure which one is the best powertrain for you, here is a simple clarification.

The majority of people think that petrol engines consume the most fuel. This however is not true. Some of the latest petrol motors with integrated turbocharger offer pretty good mpg. And don’t forget that petrol is cheaper than diesel and that petrol motors are also cheaper to service. People are also think that when a car has a hybrid badge on it, this means that it is very economical. Well, this is not entirely true. Hybrid basically means that the car has two different engines, usually one petrol and one electric motor. Some vehicles like the new jazz hybrid are indeed very efficient but others, like the Lexus ls600h, are not. The truth is that in most cases you will be better off with some economical diesel engine with small displacement. However, it appears that the electric vehicles are the most efficient and the cheapest to run and service as they have less moving parts. There is only one problem though; they are very expensive to buy.

It is not easy to talk about recruitment software just like it is difficult to talk about the world’s best cars because people have different tastes. The best one can only do is to talk about personal choice of best cars which is what I will be doing in this article. My list is not filled with luxury and some of the cars that will be listed are there just for nostalgic reasons only. My list starts with the old Volkswagen Beetle; I had a connection to this car because of the beautiful childhood I had. We used it for school runs and it is still right there in my house where we are keeping and preserving it for a reason none of us understand. My second is the Honda Civic my uncle bought years back. I fell in love with it the day I travelled on a six hour journey with him.

Another car special to me that I have come to love is the Peugeot 504 Salon car. This car was practically what we used for secondary school runs. I was in the boarding house which I dreaded and did not really like resumption days. Our 504 however did not realize this; all it did then was to jet to school even if I prayed that the speed should go bad. The most special thing about it is that I learnt driving with it. Mitsubishi Gallant 1994 model makes this list because it was my first car and I treated it like a baby. It’s there somewhere in my parent’s house and I still have not sold it. Finally, my favourite car which I don’t have yet is the Range Sport. This for me crowns the list and the day I own one is the day the significance of the previous cars becomes erased.

As I searched around for english teaching jobs I came upon an news item about the BMW Hydrogen 7 and was impressed with what I saw. So here I share what I read.

The BMW Hydrogen 7 is a car model that uses hydrogen as fuel. Aside from being powered by hydrogen, the new innovation can also be powered by the use of gasoline. It can seamlessly switch between gasoline and hydrogen. The internal combustion engine has 12 cylinders and pumps 6 litres.

This is the first hydrogen luxury vehicle that is for day to day use.

The car will inject hydrogen directly to its air intake when it is in the hydrogen mode, so, the manifold will be combusted in the cylinder of the car’s engine instead of the conversion of hydrogen’s energy to electricity that is meant for operating electric motors in the case of fuel cell. The cars that are being powered by hydrogen have increased efficiency.

An interesting thing about the use of hydrogen to power BMW cars is that, when the hydrogen has been exhausted by the car, the powering source can be switched seamlessly from hydrogen to gasoline by simply touching a particular button on the surface of the steering wheel. Aside from touching a particular button on the steering wheel to switch the power source, the engine could sense that the hydrogen has been exhausted and would automatically switch make a change over to gasoline immediately.

The tank where the hydrogen is stored is highly insulated and bi-layered. The hydrogen has a capacity for 110 liters.
